关于街道的语段:

1.When you first come to Mexico, you may worry about getting sick from eating the food, especially from street vendors. But times have changed, and unless you see an obviously unsanitary situation, most food is safe to eat. Your?choices range?from simple booths that offer just one or two items, such as burritos, to temporary sidewalk restaurants the specialize in meat and chicken plates. After dinner,?take a stroll?around the central plaza and you will find booths devoted to?satisfying your sweet tooth. Now find a bench and let your meal digest as you people watch and enjoy a fine Mexican beer.

2.In New York - like many other cities - hunting for the?superlative?street cart is a journey that takes the?intrepid eater?deep into the?outer boroughs, down?dark alleys, into the?bosom?of the city. The ideal street cart is found through?word-of-mouth and sense of smell. But since the carts keep strange and fitful hours, because they are?moveable feasts?that can drive away at any moment and because their identities are?well-guarded?by zealous acolytes, the best street food often?goes unknownto visitors and New Yorkers alike.

3.New York City summer tourist season?is well underway. After a great day of?sight-seeing, what better way to?stave offhunger than with a classic city snack—the hot dog.

But visitors beware. One vendor near the World Trade Center memorial site was recently caught?overcharging na?ve customers, allegedly charging as much as $30 for one hot dog.

4.The state of the cart remains strong. And why not? Street food is fast, convenient, and, ever more rare in this gilded era, a bargain. But those are practicalities. The mojo lies in the smell of beef sizzling on the grill, the sound of spatulas slicing and dicing onions, and the whole crazy Kabuki ritual of it all. Walk down the street devouring your Afghan chicken kebab or Italian sausage. It’s?urban culinary bliss.

5.Proper?pushcart etiquette?dictates that you not sell the same thing on the same corner as another vendor. A moral claim to a spot is so valuable that it may be inherited; some spots are passed down through generations, while some are bought and sold. If a disrespectful intruder muscles his way onto one’s turf, the available remedies are to arrive at the spot earlier or sell the same product cheaper.

6.In the last 20 years, however, Khao San Road has developed into a world famous backpackers?hangout. It offers cheap accommodation, ranging from dorm style hostels to reasonably priced 3-star hotels as well as bars, food stalls, restaurants, convenience stores, internet cafes and travel agencies.
